Underdonk presents: ONION BY THE OCEAN
May 14 - June 26, 2016
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 14th 7-10pm
Underdonk is pleased to announce the opening of "Onion By The Ocean", a grouping of sculptures by thirty-two artists.
Placed atop a gridded table, these aesthetically dissonant sculptures, alike in their diminutive scale, juxtapose a broad range of styles; such as abstract, animal forms, cosmological, figuration, found objects, grotesque, portraiture, and symbolic. The grid operates as a module for displaying the simultaneity of being, as the individual assertions of each work are either sublimated, altered, or punctuated by proximity to each other.
"Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager."-Susan Sontag.
By gathering these thirty-two works and installing them together on a grid, the installation becomes a new reality, encompassing multiple interpretations.
Organized by Essye Klempner & Elisa Soliven.
The artists in the exhibition are:
Claudia Peña Salinas
